THE AMENTA Begins Work On New Material
January 14, 2010Sydney, Australia's extreme metal unit THE AMENTA has issued the following update:
"2009 was the busiest year yet for THE AMENTA. The band undertook our first ever European tour in the beginning of the year with DEICIDE, SAMAEL, VADER, DEVIAN and ORDER OF ENNEAD. Crowds, venues and bands were great and we returned home in excellent live form.
"We came back to Australia in late January and jumped straight into the 'Industrial Corruption' tour with THE BERZERKER, which spanned approximately 20 dates throughout Australia and New Zealand. Following this, we teamed up with our good friends in PSYCROPTIC and RUINS on the 'Unleashing the Extreme' tour for a short winter tour across the east coast of Australia.
"The rest of 2009 was set aside for writing the follow up to 'n0n' but when the offer came into tour again with our friends in VADER in the U.S. and Canada, we jumped at the chance. The 'Monsters Of Death' tour was exhaustive and exhausting. It was great to share the stage again with VADER as well as make new friends in DECREPIT BIRTH, WARBRINGER, AUGURY, SWASHBUCKLE and ROSE FUNERAL. 38 shows in 40 days. We left a trail of destroyed minds everywhere we went.
"2009 saw a change in the personnel of THE AMENTA, with the replacement of Jarrod Krafczyk and Dale Harrison by Cain Cressall and Dan Quinlan on vocals and bass, respectively. Both threw themselves into the touring experience with a professionalism and an aggression which elevated our live show even further. THE AMENTA is in the best form of our career and we have no doubt that we can now hold our own against any band, anywhere.
"We are looking forward to 2010. We have made sure we will have time to record the follow-up to 2008's 'n0n' album. Small pieces have begun to come together and, while it is too earlier to say how the album will eventually sound, early sounds have indicated a return to aggressive guitar coupled with even more aggressive electronics."
Multi-camera footage of THE AMENTA's performance at Sydney's Gaelic Theater as part of the Industrial Corruption tour (also featuring THE BERZERKER) can be viewed below.
"n0n", the latest album from THE AMENTA, received a U.S. release on February 10, 2009 via Listenable Records. The CD, which came out in Europe in October 2008, was mixed at The Vault Studios in Sydney, Australia with longtime engineer Lachlan Mitchell (NAZXUL). Mastering for the album took place at Studios 301 with Australia's premier mastering engineer Steve Smart.
According to a press release, "n0n" "sees THE AMENTA redefining extreme music. Rather than relying on the clichéd shit in which other bands are content wallow, THE AMENTA have constructed an album built on new ideas, new concepts, new sounds and new techniques. 'n0n' is the fusion of whitenoise, shards of dissonant guitars and dense layers of radio chatter. Lyrically, 'n0n' is a newscast, showing you the shit around you. Suicide bombers and evangelists, freeways and dead ends. 'n0n' stands as an indictment on today's media and technology addicted society."
The recording of the album spanned three different countries and seven different studios. "n0n" contains a myriad of different contributors and performers with no less than two drummers, six vocalists and two bass players recording on the album which features guest appearances from Jason Mendonca (AKERCOCKE),Alice Daquet (SIR ALICE),Alex Pope (RUINS) and more.
